Okay, so, I've been trying to motivate myself to actually do something today, since my softball coach basically cut me from the team for a tournament this weekend (long story short, he thinks I'm injured and he's babying me). But, I was getting nowhere so I decided to watch some videos from one of my favorite youtubers, Carrie Hope Fletcher (ItsWayPastMyBedTime) and I happened to watch her video about her favorite books. So, because I feel like you guys don't know me very well and because it will make me feel better, I'm going to list my top ten favorite books that I've ever read. I'm not going to include the Harry Potter series, the Twilight saga, or the Hunger Games trilogy because I love them all and I will not chose one favorite out of all of those books.
So, with out further procrastination, here is my top 10 list for favorite books.
10.
Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa - This is actually a manga. However, I feel that it has a very powerful message, which, for those who are like me and are to dense to figure it out as the series progresses, is stated at the end in a very powerful way. It's about a young boy and his brother who performed a desperate experiment and are now paying the consequences. They are trying to reverse what was done to them, uncovering a dark plot as they do so.
9.
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater - This is a powerful if a little bit of an odd book about two people. One is a girl who comes from a poor family. Her parents are dead and her eldest brother, the only one with a job, is leaving the island they live on for the mainland. Forced to find some money fast or lose her parent's house, she signs up for a deadly race on the water horses, a flesh eating breed that are extremely fast and rise from the sea every year to feed. The other person, a teenage boy and reigning champion of the Scorpio races, has no desires in the world other than to own the water horse stallion that killed his father (as we are led to believe) and that has been his mount in all his winning races. However, his owner, a rich horse breeder, will only sell if the boy wins the race this year and buys him with all the money he's saved. So, who will win? Who will you root for?
This is a favorite for me simply because I love the darkness of this island and the intensity of the races.
8.
The Centuriad series by Kate Klimo - I especially liked the first book, The Daughter of Centaurs. This is a series of books about the last human on earth. Her people are destoyed by a race of bat hybrids called Leatherwings. She then is found by the centaurs, a sophisticated race of horse hybrids. She now needs to learn how to live among them peacefully.
7.
The A Circuit series by Georgina Bloomberg - I draw horses. What did you expect? This is a series of books about three girls who ride at a prestigious stable on the east coast. The books tell about how they all cope with life and the drama that comes with being a teenager under stress.
6.
Percy Jackon by Rick Riordan - I realize that's not actually a book, but I love anything with Percy Jackson in it. It's the reason why I liked The Son of Neptune a lot more than The Lost Hero. So, because these are multiple books that you have all probably read, no plot summary for you.
5.
Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore - This is the sequel to Graceling and the Companion to Fire. Don't worry, I didn't really get it either until I read both book and then started reading this one. I'm actually not finished with it yet, but I love it. It takes place 8 years after Graceling. Queen Bitterblue (met in Graceling) has to deal with the kingdom her father left her with. Some pretty strange things are going on, and lots of things are being hidden from her. So she starts sneaking out of the castle, and that's where the story really begins.
4.
Graceling by Kristen Cashore - This it the prequel to Bitterblue. It's about a girl who is graced with killing. Her power is abused by her uncle, King Randa. There are rumors going around of a rather splendid king to the east who seems too good to be true. And the plot thickens
This book is hard to explain without giving away the plot, so sorry if there are any spoilers in there and that's all you get. Read the book to understand.
3.
Fire by Kristin Cashore - I loved this book. I really did. It's about a girl who lives in a land where if anything has fur/hair that is an unnatural color, they are considered to be a monster. She is a monster. It's a classic fairytale type story and is pretty romantic, which is why it's my favorite book by this author.
2.
The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross - This is the first official book (although their is a brief novella prequel which I recommend reading, though isn't necessary to the plot) to the Steampunl Chronicles. It's about a girl who has something dark living in her. She finds a group of misfits who take her in and try to help her while they search for a criminal mastermind. Read it. This book is amazing. I, personally, though it was pretty hilarious at times, but I find most things hilarious. All these books have parts that I think are funnier than heck.
1.
The Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel- This is a great series that is about a girl who was born in the Ice Age and lost her family in an earthquake. She's found by a tribe of people who are not like her, and she has to learn how to live. I won't say any more than that because the plot of the series changes from book to book and so does the cast of characters. My personal favorite of these books, however, has got to be The Plains of Passage. Read the series. it's good. But be warned. There is some adult content. My mom bought these for me when I was in the seventh grade, and was kicking herself to exposing me to some of these things. It's also very mushy in places. Those happen to be my favorites.
Wow, that was longer than I intended it to be. Anyways, thanks for reading, and comment with any questions you have about me. I'll make a journal to answer them someday. Probably.
Also, I wrote this backwards, so that's why things may seem a bit out of order.
