Henry Dobbins

Henry Dobbins, whom I have always pictured as being African American, has a Llama spirit animal. Dobbins was compared once to America. Endurance, service, sacrifice. Hard work, responsibility, stubbornness. These are words that also describe the Llama spirit. Llama people tend to be sociable, giving and easygoing, but fully capable of standing up for themselves or others if crossed. Dobbins was very patient with Azar for a while when he mocked the danging girl in "Style", but when he reached his limit, he was quite capable of "[taking] Azar from behind and [lifting]him up high and [carrying] him over to a deep well and [asking] if he wanted to be dumped in" (O'Brien 136). Llama medicine teaches people to relax and trust in their own abilities to maneuver even the most difficult paths in life. Dobbins is, if nothing else, a very optimistic, relaxed person who possesses a confidence in himself and others that is unparalleled by the rest of the platoon.
